Founded by Shelley Simpson in 1994, MUD Australia Ceramics creates delicate-looking yet deceptively sturdy vitrified porcelain dishware in a range of beautifully muted colors. Handmade in Sydney, MUD’s pieces are designed for everyday use—they’re oven-, microwave-, and dishwasher-safe. The inside of each piece is finished with a glossy glaze, while the matte exterior is sanded to be soft to the touch. MUD’s entire line is available in 14 colors through online shop Horne. (N.B.: According to Horne, all MUD Australia pieces are made to order, and orders are placed at different intervals throughout the year. This allows the shop to offer the complete line in every color at the lowest possible prices. The next order cut-off date is Friday, April 29th.)
