New (to us, at least), Superiore ranges from Italy, from a company started by two brothers in 1952 on the banks of the Po River, in Gualtieri. Known in Italy as Tecnogas, the company started out producing a basic range called the mobilfornello, which had a propane tank connection and a cooktop. “The region is known as ‘motor valley,'” according to the company website, “with Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Ducati motorcycle factories close by. Many of the design details, such as the chrome accents and analog knobs, borrow influences from that industry.”
Recently Tecnogas launched a new line of professional-style ranges for the US market called Superiore; the Deco line is an “audacious, postmodern interpretation of a traditional range,” as they say, and the Next line is more streamlined and industrial. Here’s a look.
