Dave Allen, owner of Artefact Design Salvage in Sonoma (an emporium of salvaged architectural pieces and design objects for the home), recently came across a pile of wooden plum boxes while sifting through the remains of a demolished barn in the Napa Valley. He was so taken with the iconic boxes that he decided to create a modern interpretation made of steel based on the traditional utilitarian dimensions.
Above: The Plum Box is made from patinated steel with dovetail joints and measures 19 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 8 inches high: $450.
