Classic English living rooms always seem to feature rustic woven bullrush baskets for storing fireplace wood. Unfortunately, such baskets are difficult to find in the US. Manhattan’s William-Wayne & Co. carries them, at $350 for the smaller size (18 inches high) or $400 for the large (20 inches high). In the UK, Felicity Irons’ Rush Matters, located in Bedfordshire, produces handmade log baskets in three sizes, starting at £99 (she also offers weekend weaving workshops at her studio in a converted granary). If you’re in London, Chair Works offers several sizes (call for prices).
