Tara Mangini and Percy Bright are masters of the old-as-new look. The near-celebrity designers of Jersey Ice Cream Co. are known for moving in to a space while they transform it, integrating antiques and vintage whenever they can, and retaining the soul of any old property (while updating it, of course). We recently profiled their latest project, an 1890s house in Catskill State Park, New York where Tara and Percy “embraced the history and the whimsical quirks of the house,” the owners say. The kitchen is one area that was completely redesigned—but still has old world charm. “No one believes that the Smeg appliances are new, and nobody believes the plaster walls haven’t been there for a century.”
