Casper’s Perfect Pillow

May 31, 2016

Sleep startup Casper abides by the maxim that “our days are defined by how well we spend our nights.” Too true, and a helpful reminder.

In 2014, Casper set out to redefine the sleep category. The company’s model is to first do its homework—reams of it—then create the one product that will best meet their customers’ collective needs.

Casper’s first product—its award-winning Mattress—sparked a near-revolution in the sleep space. In 2015, Time magazine named the Casper bed one of the year’s best inventions. (Read more in our post From Casper, One Perfect Mattress.) The Casper mattress demonstrated that a sleeper wanting softness and a sleeper wanting support could enjoy the same mattress. But can a side sleeper and a back sleeper enjoy the same Pillow?

Casper’s out to prove that the answer is yes.

Above: After more than 18 months of testing, Casper’s solution is a pillow-within-a-pillow, combining the supportiveness of a foam-style pillow with the plushness of a feather-style pillow. But the Casper Pillow contains neither foam nor down. Its core of low-friction, short polyester fibers supports the head and neck, while the outer layer of longer fibers makes for a generous cushion.

Above: As with the Casper mattress, the company offers a 100-night trial on pillows; if you don’t love your Casper pillow, the company will take it back for a full refund. The Casper Pillow is $75 for standard size, $85 for king.
