A recent addition to our design bookshelf: Shax Riegler's Dish: 813 Colorful, Wonderful Dinner Plates (Artisan), which takes a look at 800 different dinner plates in all genres, from the very traditional to the wildly floral.

There's even a chapter devoted to Thanksgiving plates (suddenly we're coveting a set of traditional turkey china). Riegler, a veteran interiors editor, looks at antique plates dating back to 1893, when enough time had gone by that English manufacturers of elaborate china were catering in earnest to the American market. To learn more, go to Shax Riegler.
