Outdoors: Walter Lamb Furniture at Gump’s in SF

July 9, 2009

New from Brown Jordan, and available directly through Gump’s in San Francisco: a reissue of Walter Lamb’s classic midcentury outdoor furniture line. In the mid-1940s, just after WWII, Lamb began experimenting with bronze and copper tubing salvaged from sunken naval ships. The result was a collection defined by its sculptural curves and sturdy construction. Today, the furniture is handcrafted to Lamb’s specifications, with weatherproof brass replacing the bronze pipe and nylon rope replacing cloth rope. Over time, the brass will develop a rich patina. Prices start at $435 for an Occasional Table at Gump’s.
