We’ve long been fans of Danish design house Hay, so when we caught wind of a collaboration with Ikea, we took notice.
The collection, called Ypperlig (translation: “excellent”), was released last week. Among its 54 pieces are sofas, dining tables, and storage units, plus small accessories such as desk trays, vases, and throw pillows. As expected, the collection is filled with Hay’s signature way with color and restrained whimsy—but there’s plenty for us neutrals lovers to admire as well. Let’s take a closer look.
Above: The 78-inch Ypperlig Dining Table is made of solid birch, ash veneer, and steel, and can be paired with Armchairs (shown) or matching Benches; $199. Above: A Nest of Tables includes three solid beech side tables that can be stacked to save space; $59. A Mirror of white powder-coated steel has a small tray to hold entryway or bathroom accessories; $19.99. A broad, indoor/outdoor polypropylene Armchair is $69. Above: The collection includes a range of desk accessories: an LED Table Lamp made of powder-coated aluminum ($39.99), a black aluminum Stationery Set with pen cup, tape dispenser, and storage trays ($9.99), and a green Box with Lid ($6.99). Above: The Ypperlig Stool is made of solid beech with a clear lacquer finish; $24.99. The Wall Shelf at right is just over 1.5 inches deep, making for ideal storage behind a door or other shallow space; $14.99. Above: The Ypperlig Sleeper Sofa utilizes a spring mattress as a seat, and its light gray cover is removable and machine washable; $599.
