For seven years, culinary artist Laila Gohar—whom you may know from wildly inventive tableware co. Gohar World—worked out of a small stone building in Manhattan’s Chinatown, which she transformed into a durable kitchen with all the tools she needed to make magic while keeping the circa 1905 tin ceiling and walls intact.
“My studio was a creative culinary lab for exploration of food and design,” Laila tells us. “It was important that it was both beautiful and functional, as I like to host friends over for dinners and use my kitchen for events I do off-site.” And though she moved out of the space just a few weeks ago, the old-meets-new look and clever storage solutions will stand the test of time.
