House Gift: Concrete Votives from Obelisk

July 6, 2011

To light those summer twilight hours, I love these earthy Concrete Votives from Obelisk. Designer Andrew Stuart hand forms and casts each graceful little vessel from his own custom concrete mix, and then sands and polishes them to achieve an understated luster. To me, each is like its own little hearth. Furthermore, these little bits of rustic/industrial would work equally well as planters; I’m picturing them holding succulents in the bathroom or (Andrew’s favorite) a bit of moss on a window sill.
