We’ve been slavishly following Ochre since the furniture and accessory company’s early days (it was founded by three London art school friends—Harriet Maxwell McDonald, Joanna Bibby, and Solange de la Fouchardière); when Ochre opened a retail outpost in New York, we became frequent visitors (see Shopper’s Diary: Ochre in New York). And when Andrew Corrie, the husband of Harriet Maxwell McDonald, joined the company and launched a lower-price line called Canvas, featuring simple sustainable furniture and accessories created by artisans and craftsmen from the US and abroad, we began buying a lamp here, a pitcher there at the Soho shop. Now Canvas has launched an online commerce shop and it’s finally possible to order goods directly; go to Canvas Home Store to peruse the offerings.
