Restaurant Visit: Intelligentsia Coffee Shop by Bestor Architecture

Not so long ago, Julie and I stopped by the Silver Lake outpost of Intelligentsia Coffee, not solely to sample their highly rated macchiato but also to check out architect Barbara Bestor's interior; neither disappointed. The Carrara-marble-topped bar is faced with blue and white Fez tiles from LA-based Granada Tiles, which extend across the floor, creating a graphic sweep of pattern; a plywood ceiling decorated with a coffee motif adds to the modish vibe.
