To cap off our spring-forward Flora and Fauna issue, we’re taking a virtual visit not to one cabin but two, nestled in the Catskills and filled with early blooms.
The two cabins are the work of husband and wife Anna Aberg and Tom Roberts, who decamped upstate and launched design and hospitality company Homestedt. In addition to their many design services—interiors, ground-up builds, and graphic design—the couple runs a housewares shop stocked with rustic essentials at 6 Pearl Street in Livingston Manor and offers several cabins and holiday houses for rent, too.
The couple’s “Homestedt principles for being good humans in the Catskills” are applied to all they do: avoid waste (they eschew single-use plastics); avoid toxic ingredients (they stock only natural soaps, cleaning supplies, and mosquito repellants); keep things low-footprint (seeking out used over new); source locally; and support community.
Join us for a glimpse inside two of their rental properties—Mill House No. 1 and Mill House No. 2—ready for upstate getaways.
