Spotted (and admired): Industrial designer Josh Owen’s minimalist menorah. The tree-shaped form is made of cast iron–yes, it’s heavy–and features a clever integrated tray for catching wax drippings and resting a just-used match. RISD- trained Owens (he also studied at Tel Aviv University) says, “My passion for reduction has to do with a desire to make objects that have clarity. I want to design things that take care of our needs and that last.”
Above: Designed by Josh Owen for Areaware, the cast-iron Menorah is 11 inches high and is $150 through Areaware.
