To celebrate the launch of Gardenista, we asked readers to submit pinboards of favorite urban gardens on Pinterest. And our guest judge, Gardenista correspondent Kendra Wilson, has chosen a winner.
Kendra’s choice is Athena Roth’s Urban Gardens Board: “Athena’s board was very thoughtfully put together and worked well as a whole. Individually the pictures were really worth a ling. So many ideas: growing placemats, the garden under the stairs, plants hanging down for the loft space, the movable plant pouches for vertical gardening… Lots of images to repin.”
Congratulations to Athena, who will win Agrarian’s Cedar Bed-on-Legs (valued at $299.95); and a special mention to Kelly Hines’ Urban Gardens Board, for thinking about the board as a whole and more than a collection of images.

Above: The 2-by-4-foot Cedar Bed-on-Legs gives the gardener control over soil conditions (which means less fertilizing), optimal drainage, and the elevated design reduces the need to bend over while gardening. The raised bed is perfect for use on a balcony, deck, and other small spaces. Handmade in the US from FSC-certified red cedar; valued at $299.95 from Agrarian.
