Furniture: Nightwood in Brooklyn

October 14, 2008

Nightwood in Brooklyn describes their products as “reincarnated furniture.” Partners Myriah Scruggs and Nadia Yaron gather lost furniture and wood and reconstruct new pieces out of the fragments. They use only vintage or organic and sustainable fabrics, including hemp, linen, muslin, and burlap. Prices are reasonable: Upholstered chairs run from $350 to $500, depending on frame and fabric; dining tables start at $450; and side tables start at $150. Go to Nightwood for ordering information; the pieces shown below are representative of their work but most have been sold. You can also purchase pieces at the Brooklyn Flea Market in Fort Greene.
