The newest pattern from one of our favorite fabric makers, Les Indiennes, is Gigi in Madder Red. Les Indiennes founder Mary Mulcahy’s designs are widely copied, but her imitators don’t come close to achieving her graphic perfection. She extracts single motifs from traditional designs and elegantly spaces them on a natural ivory-colored background. The dying process takes 40 days—unbleached naturally dyed cottons are hand-blocked with carved wood dipped in ayurvedic dyes derived from plants, roots, earth, and rock. Fabrics are available by the yard directly from Les Indiennes.
