On our radar this autumn long weekend, things to do from home:
- Most popular post of the week: a spirited small apartment in Paris by two young architects, before and after (with a charming sink skirt, too).
- We’ll be tuning into Toast’s Virtual Creative Residency this week, October 15-17, with events like talks on the Japanese art of kintsugi, how to create a sustainable kitchen with Skye Gyngell, and ceramics demonstrations with Polly Yates—all virtual and online.
- New Yorkers: Stop by Building Black Bedstuy Marketplace every Sunday in October, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. More info here.
- And now open at Kasmin Gallery, now through November 7 (by appointment only): an exhibition of works by American sculptor JB Blunk. (Not in NYC? Join via Zoom as Mariah Nielson and curator, writer, and historian Glenn Adamson discuss the life and work of JB Blunk, October 23 at 1 p.m. Register here.)
- Julie is admiring two new rugs by The Albers Foundation with British textile company Christopher Farr—in homage to the Bauhaus styles of Josef and Anni Albers.
- And we’re all ordering copies of Life In the Studio: Inspiration and Lessons on Creativity by ceramic artist and dahlia expert Frances Palmer, just out from Artisan Books. Says Margot: “Frances lives the dream creative life: making her signature pots, growing her fabulous giant dahlias, giving talks and workshops, and taking exquisite photos of her flower arrangements (see @francespalmer).” Til we can get our hands on the book, we’re revising our tours of Frances’ garden and studio, too.
- P.S. Field + Supply‘s all-online market is going on today and tomorrow. See you (virtually) there.
