by Published: March 15, 2025

Depending on when you’re reading this, spring is at most five days away (but who’s counting?). To bid winter farewell, we’ve been turning our attention to color-infused rooms, Danish-made pigments, garden mood boards, and more. Read on for a few glimpses of spring to get you through til the real thing.

Above: This week we’ve found ourselves seduced by the gentle but definite wash of color that wood oils and pigments provide. For further evidence, see Old Recipes & Proud Traditions: Linolie & Pigment in Haderslev, Denmark.
  • For your garden design mood board: The New Romantic Garden.
  • “French opulence meets classic Americana in the first overseas outpost of Bode.”
  • Julie’s wishing she could  pop into David Gill Gallery’s booth at TEFAF Maastricht, ft. artist/maker Valentin Loellmann’s furniture; info here (if you happen to be in the area).
  • Longtime Remodelista fave Blackcreek Mercantile & Trading Co. has recently introduced BCMT Gallery in Kingston, NY, an artist-forward gallery championing high craft.
  • Cornflower, the newest colorway from Swedish designer-of-the-moment Beata Heuman.
  • Open now: PNW-based furniture maker Phloem Studio’s flagship showroom: 206 State Street in Hood River, OR. (And stay tuned for “luminous, one-of-a-kind brass objects from Jordan Hufnagel,” on view March 29.
  • And Manhattan classic ABC Carpet & Home now has a CT outpost.
  • “I was struck by these delightful flower vessels when looking through Mjölk’s website the other day. They are perfect for early spring, when branches are often the easiest thing to forage and bring indoors,” Gardenisa’s Kendra Wilson writes in.
  • Nosy neighbors alert: Now’s your chance to nab tickets for the Garden Conservancy’s April and May Open Days, when private gardens all across America open to the public.
  • Not into quiet luxury? Fans of loud design may want to check out Dusen Dusen’s pop-up at both MoMA Design Store locations in NYC. (We’re especially into their groovy new outdoor sofa and bean bag.)
  • Five flowers that will have hummingbirds flocking to your garden.
  • Read this before you even think about painting the exterior of your house.
  • Need a sleep re-set? For your browsing pleasure.
  • P.S. If you’re in the mood for a chuckle.
