Current Obsessions: Online Goings-On

January 30, 2021

This last weekend of January, a few things to watch, read, listen to, and shop this weekend—all from the comfort of your kitchen table/armchair/bed:

we&#8\2\17;re admiring, from afar, the citizenry&#8\2\17;s newly revamp 17
Above: We’re admiring, from afar, The Citizenry’s newly revamped and reopened NYC flagship store in SoHo, designed by LA-based Standard Architecture.
  • Margot is listening to Tree FM, through which you can “tune into forests around the world”—the perfect cooped-up midwinter antidote.
  • We’re eagerly awaiting the launch of Goodee 100—a collaboration between Nordstrom and socially conscious global marketplace (and Remodelista favorite) Goodee, featuring 100 home design wares priced at, yes, $100 and under. Keep an eye out; it launches Monday on nordstrom.com, goodeeworld.com, and in five Nordstrom locations, too.
  • And The Lost Kitchen in Freedom, Maine, is hosting another online market featuring women makers; it goes live today at 8 a.m. EST. Head to their site and click on “Online Market” before things sell out.
  • This week, to ease our wanderlust, we did a bit of armchair travel; join us in peeking into spaces in Kyoto, Copenhagen, and Sweden.
  • And Julie is admiring the Daylight Room, the first of three rooms created by Faye Toogood as part of her installation, called “Downtime,” at the NGV Triennial; see Toogood discuss the design with Simone LeAmon, curator at NGV, here.
  • “A confluence of my faves,” says Fan: “Susan Orlean and upstate real estate stalking,” via The New York Times.
  • And for a laugh, we recommend giving @pleasehatethesethings a follow on Instagram—full of misadventures and bad decisions in home design.
  • We’re admiring writer Susan Orlean’s just-listed house in upstate NY, designed by LA architect James Cutler; see more at the NY Times.
  • Something to look forward to: The Ace Hotel is opening its first Brooklyn outpost in late spring 2021, with interiors by the always magical Roman & Williams.
