What we’re eyeing this weekend, including two book events next week.
- Last week Alexa visited the new Hesperios Shop, a Nordic oasis in SoHo from knitwear designer Autumn Hruby, at 23 Cleveland Place in SoHo. In store: colorful knits, Swedish ceramics, furniture by Muller van Severen, objects curated by Andrew Trotter (of Masseria Moroseta), and literature curated by Erik Heywood (of Book/Shop in Oakland, California). (We also like the cafe, serving tea and coffee with bread delivered daily from Meyers Bageri.)
- Margot is picking up a copy of Craeft: An Inquiry Into the Origins and True Meaning of Traditional Crafts by British archaeologist Alexander Langlands, after hearing him on the New York Times Book Review podcast, for weekend reading.
- Opening this month at the Noguchi Museum in New York: “Akari: Sculpture by Other Means” (featuring Noguchi’s paper lanterns as sculpture) and “Akari Unfolded: A Collection by Ymer & Malta,” with Noguchi-inspired lighting by the Paris design firm.
- Noting: a covetable closet and laundry.
- Trend to watch: direct-to-consumer cookware.
- In lieu of roses this Valentine’s Day.
- A winter closet makeover on just $10.
- Attention Bay Area readers: Michelle will be at the Outdoor Art Club in Mill Valley, California, next Thursday, February 15, at 1 p.m. to talk about considered outdoor living. Stop by.
