Seating To Go: Italian Collapsible Designs for Indoors and Out

by Published: April 22, 2025

The takeaway from Milan’s recent Salone del Mobile that everyone at Remodelista is coveting? Collapsible, wood-framed, indoor-outdoor furniture from Campeggi.

The Como-based heritage brand specializes in bed boxes and other “convertibles.” For its sixtieth year, Campeggi unveiled these new, made-entirely-in-Italy designs that reference classic campaign furniture.

Arezzi specializes in multifunctional designs for modern nomads: in this case, he says he was inspired by accordion-folding camp beds once used by the military and as guest cots or branda in Italian: “These anonymously designed beds are now scattered in flea markets. Brando, the masculine equivalent of branda, is a contemporary redesign of this anonymous piece,” Arezzi tells us. “By adding a reclining cushion, it evolves from a basic cot into a comfortable, upholstered pouf.” giuseppe arezzi&#8\2\17;s brando was elected chaise longue of the year at t 18

It’s available in Europe from Campeggi; US buyers can find it at Mohd as the Brando Folding Sunbed; $1,416. The frame is ash and the cushion comes in a range of colors.
