Our judges have chosen the finalists in all eight categories of our 2017 Considered Design Awards. In six categories—professional and amateur kitchens, baths, and living/dining rooms—your vote will choose the winners. Be sure to vote once per day, now through August 4, on both Remodelista and Gardenista.
The winners of our United Kingdom categories will be chosen by our judges and announced on August 7. Browse below to see the five finalist projects in the best Amateur UK Interior category.
Above: Jason Briscoe entered his Spring Grove Farmhouse in Bewdley, England. It was chosen as a finalist by Remodelista editor Julie Carlson, who called the project “the best of both worlds: the charming exterior of this 250-year-old farmhouse remains intact, while the interiors have been completely modernized. The open plan kitchen and dining room, with original brick fireplace, is especially appealing, and the family bedrooms are airy and inviting.” Above: Connie Be submitted A Victorian Apartment in Edinburgh, Scotland, picked as a finalist by guest judge Sam Hamilton, who said: “The bones of the house are lovely and light-filled as a start and the charming mix of modern with antique and vintage pieces gives the space texture and history. Well done.” Photograph by Douglas Gibb. Above: Anna Grainger entered her Georgian Townhouse Remodel in Dawlish, England, another pick by Sam Hamilton, who called it “a charming renovation, very cleverly pulled off. The ambience created by the color of the sitting room is terrific.” Above: Elaine Beere submitted her Contemporary, Pared-Back Restoration of a Period Country House in Nottingham, England, which Sam Hamilton called “a very pleasant home. It’s lovely to have that sweet sitting area in the kitchen, and the tonal color palette is soothing. Very nice attention to detail.” Above: Tanya Vacarda entered her Holywood Mid-Terrace House Revamp in Holywood, Northern Ireland, chosen by Julie Carlson: “We’re so impressed by the owners’ ingenuity with this project; they learned to create various decorative finishes, pour concrete floors, and create their own wood flooring. We especially like the kitchen, with its crisp black countertops and clever hanging utensil installation.” Photograph by Darren Hercher.
Don’t forget to vote once per day in the non-UK contest categories on both Remodelista and Gardenista, now through August 4.
