Founded in 2012 by textile designer Marisol Centeno, Bi Yuu (the name means “air and earth”) is a line of handwoven flatweave rugs with designs inspired by Mexican modernist architecture. Centeno learned to knit and sew from her grandmother, and went on to study textile design at the Ibeoamerican de Mexico in Mexico City. After spending a year in Oaxaca getting to know the local artisan community, she launched Bi Yuu with a goal to produce rugs made with “raw materials that age with beauty.” See more at Bi Yuu and follow the company at @biyuumx.
