The beauty of the canister vacuum? If you have, say, 20 inches of storage space, you can keep your dust-busting, allergen-eliminating machine well out of sight. While the upright vacuum is another option (see our post 10 Easy Pieces: Compact Upright Vacuums for Small Spaces), most of us at Remodelista prefer the canister style for the sake of storability.
