Accessories: Side by Side Bread Box

May 12, 2009

The beautifully crafted (and equally functional) Bread Box from German Company Side by Side is made from untreated maple and smoked oak; the inside has a removable canvas liner that keeps the bread moist, while the top slides out to double as a cutting board or serving tray. At $240, this is no casual purchase, but it’s one that will last a lifetime; plus, there’s a charitable angle as well: Side by Side matches a craftsperson with a mentally or physically disabled apprentice. Available via DWR’s Tools for Living.
