Designed for situations when there is no cabinet above the stove, wall-mounted chimney range hoods are installed on the wall. Most of the styles we show here are convertible: They can be either vented—that is, attached to a vent or duct that sends cooking odors, heat, and grease to the outdoors—or unvented, by adding a recirculation option with charcoal filters to clean the air. (For more on this, see Remodeling 101: The Verdict on Vented vs. Non-Vented Range Hoods). Most hoods come in a range of widths; for comparison purposes, we’ve focused on 36-inch-wide models.
