An admirer of Ishiguro’s humidifier is industrial designer Leon Ransmeier who told the New York Times, “It looks like an industrial smokestack, and it works like one, too. The mist comes out so far away from the ground that you’ll never get any condensation.” Ransmeier himself is the designer of a humidifier, though it’s still in prototype phase.

Milan industrial designer Giulio Lacchetti created the sculptural Vapor Factory, shown here, which emits steam through its chimney.
