Inspired by the Land

Our mission was to return 40-acres logged in the 1800s to its natural state. Woodland revitalization, extraction of non-native plants, grasslands restoration, and rainwater collection created this rural retreat. This thoughtful restoration of the land informed the refined material palette of the home and landscape.

The house was designed with windows that open up into an open-air pavilion connecting the pool to the firepit above the sparkling lights of Healdsburg.

Vintner's View

This weekend basecamp in Healdsburg is sited mid-slope in a 33-acre working vineyard to take advantage of sweeping views of the Dry Creek Valley. The home was terraced into two levels allowing an easy, relaxing transition to the landscape and minimizing the construction footprint.

Concrete, wood and corten steel provide the base for the building. Beds of native grasses, perennials, culinary herbs and roses blend the house into the vineyard.

Poppies in Paradise

We designed a new landscape to integrate a new contemporary home with the site’s existing architecture. We studied the previous materials and concrete finishes to create a seamless transition to the new hardscape. The design unites a modern and more natural aesthetic for a wonderful client who is an enthusiastic gardener.
