About

Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful. WILLIAM MORRIS

Our Story

We launched Remodelista in 2007 as a group of friends with a shared design sensibility, dedicated to sleuthing out the best design options out there. After all, who has the interest—and time—to spend days tracking down the world’s best light switch covers? We do. Almost two decades (and five books) later, Remodelista is the go-to source for elevated, trend-proof, sustainable style, dedicated to demystifying the design process and providing essential sourcing information, whether you’re contemplating a complete overhaul, updating a corner of your living room, or simply looking for a small upgrade. Our ethos remains the same: design-forward living for all.

Our Editorial Team

We’re a team of design-obsessed editors. Among us, we’ve survived more than a dozen remodels (thanks to countless email chains and expert tips from architects, designers, and style setters). We research every major (and minor!) purchase to the ends of the earth, from essential furnishings down to cabinet pulls. When we travel, we scout design-forward destinations (and report back). And we’re never quite finished.

Our Manifesto

Our style is minimalist but not monastic; timeless, not trendy. We choose thoughtfully designed products made to last over mass-market, disposable goods. We love Ikea as much as DWR, and believe a mix of high and low, vintage and new, animates a space. When we need to make a daunting investment (ever bought a couch?), we research it to the ends of the earth. We favor clarity over clutter, classic and livable over impersonal and transient.
