Hand painting with colours on white glaze produces visual effects of startling vividness in the Majolique series. Tile painters have recreated the splendid tile schemes of 15th Century Orvieto, Italy. The early influence of Valencia potters on Italian ceramics is evident in the use of blue decoration or sometimes purple on white. Orange, yellow and green are included in the palette and technique known under three names: Maiolica (Majolique), Faience and Delft.

The method of producing each tile is fairly time consuming and labor intensive. Each tile has been molded individually into a very rustic form, carefully glazed and decorated by hand.

Applications :  Kitchen backsplash, walls, bathroom walls, tub surrounds, shower walls, wainscoting and fireplace surrounds. Crackled and crazed glazes should be treated and maintained with a penetrating sealer.

Materials : Glazed Ceramic Tile (Red Body)
