Design Sleuth: Pendants from Osteria Emilia
Issue 23 · Summer Essentials · June 7, 2010
In their design for Osteria Emilia in Hampstead (see Architect Visit: Burd Haward in London), the architects used contrasting pendant lights for an airy effect, combining a classic English porcelain drop light from Original BTC with Finnish birch wood slatted lights.
Above: Designed by Finnish architect Seppo Koho, the Secto 4200 Pendant Light is hand made by Finnish cabinet-makers of laminated birch slats, which are connected by rings of airplane plywood. The Secto 4200 Pendant Light is available with a white or natural birch shade (with white cable) or in black (with black cable); £384 at the Lollipop Shoppe.
Above: Made of glazed translucent bone china with a cloth-covered cord, the Drop 1 Pendant Lamp, designed by Peter Bowles of Original BTC, is $220 at Design Within Reach.
