Hotels & Lodging: Eichardt's Hotel in New Zealand
Issue 8 · Australia · February 26, 2010
On the shores of Lake Wakatipu in Queenstown, New Zealand, sits Eichardt's Private Hotel, a landmark structure that was originally used as a humble woolshed. During New Zealand's gold rush, a wooden façade was added and the building morphed into a hotel. The interiors were redesigned not long ago by Virginia Fisher, a New Zealander known for her "confident strokes and flawless symmetry," using a mix of vintage and new elements.
