On a visit to the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs last year, Sarah and I admired the modular Donald Judd–like coffee tables in the hotel lobby, custom made by Commune Design in LA. Commune is now offering the Commune Crate in three versions: Crate 1 (of Douglas fir with a brass panel and brass cleat) is $1,600, Crate 2 (Douglas fir with brass cleat) is $1,400, and Crate 3 (plain Douglas fir) is $1,200.
