Design Sleuth: Parentesi Lamp by Janet

In our recent Architect Visit: Skeppsholmen Hotel in Stockholm by Claesson Koivisto Rune we admired the floor-to-ceiling bedside light. Designed in the 1970s by Italian architect Achille Castiglioni, the Parentesi Lamp is practical and space saving; a small mount attaches to the ceiling, while an unfixed weighted base secures it to the floor. The rubber bulb holder swivels on the steel rod in any direction. No hardwiring is required; the Parentesi simply plugs into any wall outlet; $436 at Y Lighting.
