Growing up, My bed was in a niche. The slope of the roof in my bedroom was steep, and to maximize space, the bed was built into a little alcove. I wish I had taken more photos of my room as a boy, it would have been a great one to share here.
I love that last niche. There's something so cozy about having a bed surrounded by walls. The smallest bed niche I ever slept in was in a hotel in Paris. The top of the bed was literally within what had been a tiny closet. I was definitely traveling on-the-cheap, but that itty bitty room and it's tiny bed niche is a fond memory.
