Architect Visit: Annabelle Selldorf Artist's House in Sagaponack

Set on a seventeen-acre expanse on eastern Long Island, this artist's compound by Annabelle Selldorf was "inspired by typical New England farm structures; the house, studio, garage, and pool pavilion form a quartet of taut, shingled and gabled volumes arranged around a central courtyard. Bing Bing Bing Bing. This is MY dream house. I am going to build this house, only in my dream I use an old barn. Kudos to this posting. Perfecto!

This, for me also, is like something I have designed in my head as a dream home. The proportions are sensational and sublime, the wood is dry, dry, dry and the quirky features like the connecting corridor with louvers on two sides would keep the artistic aesthetic amused for a lifetime. I'm particularly smitten with the 'institutional' feel to the size of the grounds. Lucky owners!helots
