Our recent post on Design Within Reach's Iris Hantverk Doormat stirred up some strong feelings about doormats; below are some additional choices.

Above: The Wood and Horsehair Doormat from Manufactum (€33.50) is nearly identical to the Iris Hantverk Doormat, except this one is from real horsehair rather than synthetic fibers (and it's half the price if you live in Europe).

Above: Galvanized Steel and Coco Fiber Doormat; $85 at Conran USA.

Above: We like coir bristles combined with a wire frame for sturdiness, such as in the Rectangular Wire Coir Doormat for $32 at Green Turtle Garden.

Above: The Coir Diagonal Doormat is $25 from eDoormat.com, or the similar Boot Scraper Doormat from Bed Bath & Beyond for $20.

Above: Wood and Rubber Doormat; $40 from The Gardener in Berkeley.

Above: We like the simplicity of wooden slat doormats, such as the Slat-Mat Doormat, which is currently on sale at Slat-Mat for $75 or $85, depending on size.

Above: The Teak Slatted Doormat is currently on sale at Smith & Hawkin for $79 (down from $99).

Above: The Cypress Slat Mat from the Mat King has a rustic look we like; prices range from $115 to $650 for the 68-by-30-inch size shown above.

Above: For instructions on how to make a DIY slat doormat, go to Martha Stewart.

Above: The stainless steel and rubber Blomus Doormat from Germany stands up to any weather condition; available at CSN Rugs for $76.40.

Above: Frontgate offers the hardworking Aluminum Scraper Doormat; $199.

Above: The Tire Link Doormat is an old standby; it's also an ecologically sound choice, since it's made of 100 percent recycled tires. $13.49 from Ace Hardware online.

Above: All-Weather Doormat of polypropylene rope; $39.95 to $59.95 at Crate & Barrel.
