2010 East Bay AIA Merit Award, 2009 National AIA Housing Award, 2009 SFAIA Excellence in Architecture Award, 2009 Custom Home, and Builder Magazine Award for panel construction

This new construction, DesignBuild, single-family residence is spatially and aesthetically rational, expressive of materials and craft. The goal of the project was to create a modern, very eco-sensitive, urban retreat that was kid tough and kid friendly, without compromise on design.

A DesignBuild space for a continuing restaurant client in the Marina District of San Francisco. This space is simple and clean where the rows of furnishings and lighting create a sense of order and calm. Open dining area, bar and exhibition kitchen

share the space where natural light floods in from the wall of tall storefront windows. Rich, dark wood communal tables, stools, and bar were also designed, sourced, and provided by Zack | de Vito.

States Street Tandem

States Street, in San Francisco, sits on an unusual 50’ x 50’, severe, down-sloping lot. The two units, 'x' and 'y' relate, yet differ. Each unit has closed, perforated spaces containing cooking, bathing, opening into a wider space for living, dining, bedrooms and stair core. Finishes of cold rolled steel, oxidized steel, concrete, translucent glass and stucco define this modern dwelling. Barrel roofs and open trussed ceilings bring maximum Northern light while shading the South terraces.

Russian Hill High-Rise

This high-rise apartment was designed as an urban retreat to accentuate the owners' art and sculpture collection and breathtaking San Francisco views. Limited, yet repeating materials and colors serve to define and clarify spaces. Main rooms directly connect withinn the perimeter of the space to access views and light, while the core, or inner "cube", that contains services for entertaining and storage , serves to anchor and connect the spaces.

A DesignBuild project, this two-unit town house has one unit that occupies the entire first floor then splits in half to accomadate three level units . Each 2,400 sf unit opens up to a dynamic space of the lighted stair core. Light fills the center of these units in a surprising way, never feeling dark or cut off from the outside. The steep upward-sloping lot allows for a terraced rear yard. Concrete, Marble, Cold-Rolled steel and Oak cabinetry define both units

This new, single family home draws in the dramatic rear-of-house San Francisco Downtown views and light while double height spaces enlarge the interior and connect

spaces to the outdoors. Green technologies were implemented to reduce consumption and energy use such as sustainable or recycable materials, solar panels, radiant heat and passive cooling.

A destination restaurant, bar and lounge in the SOMA district of Sn Francisco, this adaptive re-use project was originally a steel foundry. Now a huge, 30 seat oval, marble-topped bar sits within a lighted, 50' high space as new lounge and dining spaces flank the bar to create more intimate experiences. Existing, intact, industrial mechanisms of the past counter with the newly designed materials. Patrons can also experience Film and DJ events from the open second level dining spaces.
