This sustainable eco-friendly house on 3 acres gently unfolds into the landscape with a form conductive to passive solar design. The interior is anchored with a large board form concrete thermal mass fireplace. The rough texture is contrasted with smooth sustainable Teak flooring and the clean modern lines of the green cabinets. The powder coated transom windows offer air circulation and ventilation.
The master bath creates a strong interior/exterior relationship with a wood Teak floor and the seamless surround of the porcelain tub leading you to an exterior shower.
The rustic cabin feel is maintained with the Western Red Cedar siding interior paneling of the breakfast room.
The large eaves frame outdoor room spaces such as covered porches and decking which blend into the landscape.
This house strikes a balance between the modern pied-a-terre and a cozy retreat, while maximizing the remarkable view of the San Francisco Bay. Inspired by California modernism, the house renovation grazes on the natural landscape with the lightest touches.
